Seaside Sights

Before heading down the coast of Oregon, I had heard many tales of its beauty. Having grown up on the coast and seen my fair share of beaches around the world, it's fair to say that I met these tales of beauty with a healthy dose of skepticism. Well, in fact, the rumors were true. I found it tough to stick to any semblance of a schedule simply due to the fact that every beach I passed showed some unique or enthralling quality that I hadn't expected and felt a compulsive urge to explore.

My personal favorite was Thor's Well, a fierce fountain of water caused by waves crashing on an underground cave.

The surrounding plateau was an impressive display, but you have to be careful not to be too taken by the sights or you'll quickly find yourself taken by the sea.

The only thing that I could have hoped for at most of these spots would have been clear skies to shed some more appealing light on the natural wonders. (Below: The Devil's Punchbowl)

It seems like every stop along the winding 101 leads to a new and increasingly obscure shore.

And finally, home.
