Bald Hills and LBJ's Grove

Why it's Great:
+Stunning views

+Peaceful ride
+Massively Giant F*%@ing trees

Not so Great:
-Long dusty roads (not a good spot to break down)
-Far from... everything

If you're a motorcycle enthusiast or if you can appreciate a beautiful drive in the car, a trip up to the Bald Hills is a must in this area.  The road runs along the eastern boarder of the Redwood National Park connecting the Hoopa Valley to Orick.  The road is long, unpaved, and not an ideal place to break down, but with some planning and good weather it's no problem to find or navigate it.

As you descend from the hills into Orick, you can't miss the turnout for the Lady Bird Johnson Grove, a wildlife preserve that's packed with some of the most beautiful AND enormous old growth redwoods in the world.  Definitely worth checking out for a leisurely stroll and a cure for your numb bum after the long drive.
